Out of all world countries, the Land Of Beautiful Sunsets is by far my favorite. The tickets are cheap, and no paperwork is required at the border, no vaccinations, not even a passport. But despite all that, it remains not very popular with tourists, so there is no danger of being overcrowded.

I come here often to clear my head and to recalibrate my eyes. I’ve visited the high mountains of the land, the hidden meadows and the sprawling archipelagos. I think I know the lay of the land by now, but on every visit I find something new and exciting. Sometimes the border is closed—they don’t run on a schedule down there—and then I just come back next day and request admission again.

Oftentimes I bring my camera with me. Usually it stays in the camera bag, forgotten, as I wander around, mesmerized by the beautiful landscapes. But sometimes I do take pictures, so I can browse through them later, pale shadows of the glorious original, reminding me where I’ve been and making me to earn to come back.

These two were taken this month, on my recent visits there.

There is no land more fair and more beautiful than the Land Of Beautiful Sunsets.
